April: workshop, revelations, experiments

I'll talk about the items in the subject line over the next couple or few posts.  I really just want to put a few notes about the experiments I'm doing.
First, make sure to cut the electrode tip for the appropriate diameter.
Second, turn on the air table to get rid of the slow large amplitude oscillations from the local field potential (LFP) recording.
Third, figure out how to better troubleshoot the BioAmp Controller pre-amp and amplifier.
Fourth, the brain seems to bulge more and more as time passes after removing the skull window and dura.  How problematic might this be?
Do seizures look different for different regions in the neocortex (ie, gradually increase then suddenly stop vs. suddenly start then gradually decrease)?
Is there a particular proportion of these types of seizures?  Or do they occur randomly?
Big question I've been asking:  What determines the way in which seizures begin and end?  Is there something that gets charged up, used up, and reaches critical "mass" at the beginning and the end?
